Whats New
We're nearing the end of our semester... and we're so thankful!! It's funny because we look back and think 'Wow... we thought the OTHER semesters were crazy!' This one tops them all, and there's not much hope of it getting better. But what killed us, I think, is that we started this semester off rough. We haven't had our feet underneath us all semester. And our house still isn't put together all the way.
Life stops for no one!
I am here to update everyone since I am terrible at calling and keeping in touch. Honestly, I/we just don't have the time. (Unfortunately, I'm ignoring my pile of homework to do this.)
Anyway, so Chad's working on his Doctorate, and man - it's been extremely rough!! I think we both sort of underestimated it - he's got a lot on his plate! He's doing his best to pull through though and could use tons of love and encouragement. Really. And one of these days I'll have him write a post about what he does in the lab all day.
As for me, I cut my load (again) since it wasn't sane to keep as many credits as I had. But even with the lighter load I am struggling. I'm doing the best I can - we'll see if it's good enough. Learning a new language is tough and I really wish I was learning it under better circumstances. It's really fun and I'm still loving it - I'm just not absorbing it as much as I need or want to. I am also liking my new job, but it doesn't exactly offer me a break either. The only tiny break I get during the week is on Monday nights when I have my Belly Dance class - and it's awesome. It's the one thing this semester I feel good at! :)
The kids, on the other hand, are doing fantastic! We've had parent-teacher conferences for both of them, and they are both amazing! Mykala's one of the top two students in her class, is so well behaved, nice to others, a big help, and very smart. She knows how to read a few words and I think that's gotten her more excited to learn how to read. She has homework every Friday night that she does well on, and we're about to kick it up a notch with reading. She is still going to dance lessons and still liking it. She has lots of friends that she talks about constantly, and has such a big personality. Her birthday is coming up, as you all probably know, and it will be her first friend birthday party. I have never done it before, so it will be interesting. Her party is going to be next weekend since she's in California with her daddy and papa this weekend. There are going to be 7 little kids and it's going to be a Tangled party.
The little boy is good, too. He's doing great at school and loves it, even though I've left him there in the morning screaming more than once. His teacher said he's really well-behaved and that he loves playing outside and story time. He eats a lot (there's only one little kid who, on average, eats more than him - and she's a girl!) and he is still trying to catch onto this whole potty training business. He's doing much better, we just need to keep working with him. According to his teacher, there's also a shelf in his classroom that has it in for him -- the boy runs into it a lot. So, we need to work on potty training and telling him to keep his distance from that darn shelf. Or maybe we should be working on teaching him a little self-defense. :)
But Jace is doing great - and he's still obsessed with trains, cars, and airplanes. Guess which movie we've seen more than once this week? And the movie that has made him think that every red car is Lightning, every purple car Holly, and every truck Mater? Yep. "Cars.. (breath) ..tewe."

So I guess that's us in a nutshell.

These are some pictures that have been on my phone since August. (They're not great, sorry.)
The metal playground was awesome and it was a fun day with Julie, Julian, and Isabelle. There was SO much to do and we didn't get to see it all. It was packed that day!
